Gluten free eating
Gluten Free restaurants, gluten free cafes, gluten free bakery On our site we find that gluten free restaurants, cafes and gluten free bakery searches are some of the main things that people want to know about. After all, we all deserve to have a good gluten free meal out or take home a great gluten free bakery loaf or roll, don't we? The most curious thing about places that don't have any gluten free items on their menu is often their willingness to ‘give it a go'. Great in theory, but it usually results in instant cross contamination (using the same cooking implements and oils tainted with gluten or sauces containing gluten). The majority of gluten free shops that dabble in gluten free food may supply pre-prepared foods such as muffins or bread rolls or if they provide gluten free meals, they provide very limited options such as providing steak and salad with a gluten free sauce. You can also instantly make yourself a stranger by asking for gluten free beer, so the usual advice is BYO - if the restaurant allows. It is such a shame that for a 1 in 100 disease that there is still so much misinformation and stigma in the community. So it seems that it's up to the customers (you) to make the real difference, one gluten free restaurant or café at a time. While you can ask them to make gluten free options available in future, you can also tell them to have a look at our site and maybe list for free with us - once they become gluten free. At Gluten Free Pages we truly understand the difficulty you can have in finding yourself in an unfamiliar suburb and just wanting to dine on gluten free food. That is why we sought out as many gluten free establishments as we could and attempt to get them to provide you with a listing that provides you with more details than their address alone. But this is a work in progress. One day we envision that we will have a whole fleet of gluten free cafes and restaurants providing special offers via our free newsletter and accessed from our home page but they will only do that if the demand is there. That is why it is vital that you ask the gluten free question. If you haven't read about it yet, we call people ‘gluten free angels' and reward them for providing us with the details of any great gluten free places that we don't already have in our directories. Doing so doesn't have to be all altruistic as it will also give you one free entry in our twice yearly (or more) give-away. Being one of the two leading angels will guarantee you a gluten free prize in our next give away! We dare you to be rewarded for being our leading angel. |
