Gluten Free Pages Launch at Melb GF show a success!
The Gluten Free show rolls around once a year in Melbourne (Oct 11, 2008) and as we rushed headlong towards the dual deadline of our site Launch and Show beginning ... we urged our site developers on. But as anyone who has launched a site knows, not everything goes to plan. And so it is with a few of the myriad of innovations we strive to bring you. But rest assured, we are working around the clock to bring them to you.
The ‘About GFP' section of our site explains a little about why the heart of our site is different from so many others. In essence, rather than be a directory or a shopping mall, our site is about community. It was created by a coeliac who had extreme difficulty eating out in her own suburb, let alone travelling to other suburbs in metro Melbourne or interstate. This site is not something ‘cookie cut' by a large corporate to ‘flog product'. It is primarily about providing coeliacs with maximum information to allow maximum freedom of choice of where and what to eat in the gluten free universe.
Having limited resources, we encourage everyone who reads this article to get their favourite gluten free eateries to submit their own business via our CLIENTS menu tab, then the ‘Submit Listing' tab. Of course they can list for free, or provide visitors with much more information by using our enhanced listing options. An additional reason that you may want them to create an enhanced listing is that this will allow them to make Special Offers or post loyalty coupons on their page. By demand, with enough gluten free customers, they may be persuaded to give every eighth or tenth meal way for free?
If you forget to tell them about our site, you can always submit them for free yourself. Ideally if every visitor submitted one or two of their favourite gluten free haunts in their areas, we would very quickly provide a network of gluten free establishments covering the whole of Melbourne, Sydney and Australia in no time!
While we welcome article submissions from experts for our soon to be built Articles page, we also encourage you to register and regularly connect with each other about all things gluten free on our Forum page. Simply click on the Forum icon at the top right of our homepage. A huge thanks to Shelley for being a brave first external Forum member!
For those who gave us their email addresses at the show, the draw for the gifts provided by our show sponsors has just happened. You will either know about this because you have registered with our Newsletter. If you missed out on signing up then, you can do so now by registering via the homepage VISITORS menu tab, then clicking on ‘Newsletters'.
Yours in gluten free,
Bruce Dwyer
